Sharon and I have finally settled into our new home in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Although the moving process was a slight hassle, we got through it. We had portions of the house painted and had some new carpet laid down. Sharon did a great job picking everything out.
I absolutely love this house! We have plenty of storage space, a finished basement that serves as my "man cave" with room for Sharon's treadmill and elliptical, a wood burning fireplace, three bedrooms, and a nice office. Papa's old executive desk fits nicely in my office.
Spud absolutely loves this place, as well. With our last move, he was seriously depressed for about six weeks. He went from our Cherokee house (which had more roommates and was closer to the park ) to total solitude. Here, Spud has a girlfriend at the Dickie house that he enjoys spending time with. Plus, he gets to spend time with more people. Since the Dickie house is only five houses down, he'll run over to their house when he sees his girlfriend outside. He'll play for a bit, maybe go inside, and when they let him back out he runs home (sometimes with a bone in his mouth). It's pretty funny.
Since I've been in Michigan for about a week now, I have experienced a lot of "firsts." I'm trying to get acclimated to my new environment, but I always seem to be one step behind. The very first step I took in my new house, I almost fell as I slipped on the garage surface. I now know why its important to take your shoes off at the door. I now know that when I get in the car, the steering wheel will be like a block of ice unless I have gloves. I now know that I better knock the snow off my car before opening the door, unless I want to sit in two inches of snow as I drive. It's the little stuff I'm having to get used to, but we're having a great time. It's nice being able to walk out of my back door, hang a right, and grab a sandwich at the Dickie house. If I have time, I enjoy teaching Jeremy humility as I mercilessly demolish him in Madden football.
I love it here. I love what I'm doing at work and I love where we live. I live 3.8 miles from work, which is very convenient. I'm working hard at my job and it feels great as I'm working on some very exciting projects. Click on the picture below to look at more pictures of our house. I haven't taken pictures of every room, but you'll get the idea. Stay in touch, everyone!

Hey guys! Congratulations on the move; I'm glad everything went smoothly. The house looks great, except for that white stuff that seems to be covering your yard...what is that!?? :) Is Luke Prescott the official name? If so, I approve. Tell the fam hi for me.
Luke Prescott is the official name, for now...Yes, Elizabeth, I too was at odds with the white wintery mix that was on the ground when I arrived in Michigan. But you actually get used to it, until you fall and break your arm.
The house looks great! And the china cabinet is perfect! I miss the "white stuff"...it aids in enjoying the fireplace! Luke Prescott seems to be growing. Sharon looks terrific, as always. Y'all did a great job with the colors and decor...well done! Non posso attendere per vederli i uni o i altri prima o dopo Luke viene. Fino ad allora, sia happy;be sicuro e sappia che siete amavate!

"I can't wait to see Luke sooner or later. So then, be happy, be secure and know that you are deeply loved."
Thanks for the kind words, Dean dean. And thanks for the refresher on my Italian.
welcome to Michigan! Don't worry, it's not always this cold here.
Sono così fiero di voi e so che sarete eternally felici. Il nostro amore per voi e Sharon sempre li manterrà caldi quando sembra parte esterna fredda
The house looks great. We are so jealous that you have snow. Sounds like things are going well for you and Sharon. We miss both of you very much especially Madeline and Harrison!
