Luke's 1st Birthday Party!

Today, we had Luke's first birthday party. It couldn't have gone any better. Sharon did a terrific job setting up the house and getting things perfect for Luke. Of course I was saying the whole time, "Do we really need that..." But in the end, I think all the small details added up to make for a fantastic party. It was a perfect day and everyone showed up! We're fortunate to be around so many wonderful people.

Luke started the day in a good mood.

This was one of the moments when I said, "Sharon, do we have to...."

Sharon picked out a special outfit for his birthday. His monkey outfit matched the Jungle theme. It was really cool. Luke's nursery has a jungle theme, so we kept the party in that spirit. Sharon had stuffed animals around the house, green and yellow streamers, jungle plates, a blow up monkey by our front door:)

Luke still struggles with opening presents. He gets hung up with the thick wires, the tape, the sealed plastic, more wires in tape in plastic, and more wires....ok, I struggle a little too.

Although he has a hard time opening the presents, he knows how to use them.

Sharon asked that I make a video of Luke for his birthday. I fought for as long as I could because I didn't want to set a precedence for our other kids, but I lost:) I'm thinking about taking Brandi's advice and using the same video for the other kids and just change the name. The video is about 9 minutes. I tried keeping it short. And if you click on the Google video button on the lower right corner, you can view the video on a larger screen. Enjoy.

Luke is a lucky fella! Happy Birthday!
Fantastic job with the birthday video--it was so fun to see all of those "old" pics and videos. The one where he rolls over (and his facial expression) still cracks me up! He's done a lot of things in just one year. So cute!!! Love that second song too...

You guys did a great job on Luke's party and video! And since London is in there quite a bit, maybe I can convince her that we made that video for her 1st birthday:) Happy Birthday, little man!

Soy cake?

Elizabeth, Luke wasn't a big fan of the soy cake. In fact, there wasn't a single person at the party that had anything good to say about it. It was by far the worst "cake" I've ever had. It's through no fault of the chef...but it's a soy cake...enough said.
