A night of firsts....
After almost a year and half since her last race, Sharon made her comeback official...big time!! At a track meet at Saginaw Valley University, a Division II school, Sharon ran the 3K (almost two miles for you non-track enthusiasts) in 9 minutes, 35 seconds (just about 30 seconds shy of her personal best performance of two years ago, which isn't bad for a mama just returning to the track). Sharon lapped the entire field of runners...twice. She was first in her race, shattered the meet record, shattered the track record, and shattered the team record (she ran for a local club called "Front Line"). She looked fantastic and I'm excited to say that she's right on track to qualify for the Olympic Trials, which is her stated goal. Don't ask me how she's doing it, as she's operating on very little sleep and a Rocky Balboa-like training regimen. I wouldn't be surprised if I came home from work early to watch her chucking wooden logs in our back yard for exercise:) I'm proud of her. And of course, Luke makes a guest appearance in the video below:) Enjoy.

Sharon,
You are amazing! And as impressive as your time was at that race, I find your dedication in this extremely cold weather with lack of sleep even more impressive. Thanks for being an example to your nephew, Lachlan and your nieces too. We are all so proud of you. We look forward to watching you at the opening ceremonies on 08/08/08! Kevin - looks like little man, Luke stole your victory kisses:)
