Sharon, Luke and I took a long weekend and went west to New Buffalo, Michigan. With such a ridiculous name for the town, there was hardly anyone there, not surprisingly! We had fun on our first family mini-vacation. Of course, we departed Flint without knowing where we were going or where we were staying. But we at least had sense to bring a bunch of diapers, some baby clothes, and bathing suits. Lucky for us, Sharon brought plenty of outfits for Luke, as he decided to poop on every one of them. We landed at a crappy hotel in New Buffalo, as all the others were reserved, but we had fun nonetheless. The town was very small with only a few restaurants and shops. But the beaches were very private and very beautiful. We had a great time. Luke did ok for his first trip, but I could tell he was getting a little upset towards the end. He wasn't used to being hot. When we got home on Monday, he slept for 7 hours straight! Poor boy. He was such a great baby on this trip. At the restaurant on Sunday, he just kicked back and stared around the room at the Christmas lights and observed all the hustle and bustle from vacationing Chicago folks.
On Sunday morning, Sharon wanted to go to Wal-Mart to pick up some beach stuff. On our way to the store, I saw a sign for South Bend. I couldn't believe how close we were to Notre Dame, so I decided to take Luke on his first college visit! Luke loved the campus, but wasn't too impressed with the lack of air conditioning in the dorms. I told him that by the time he turns 18, there will be air conditioning. We set up a couple of official visits when Luke turns 17. For Track of course! Unfortunately for Luke, Notre Dame has bad taste in talent. When I was in high school, I vigorously pursued them, but they never gave me the courtesy of returning my phone calls or letters. Now as I think about my All-American achievement and the discovery of my greatest treasure (Sharon), Notre Dame was not the school for me. And I thoroughly enjoyed laying waste to those Domers every time I lined up in the blocks next to one, but I wasn't bitter:)

Sharon is looking fantastic, as always.

Luke always need to hang on to something when he's being held. He's funny.

Touchdown Jesus! (For you non-Notre Dame fans, check out the library in the background).

Shar,
Mo gave me some "blogger etiquette" classes when she came out to visit (I graduated with honors!), so I now know that I should leave frequent comments. :) It sounds like you had a great time on your little weekend adventure--the picture of the three of you is splendid!

haha that is so funny! I am glad we're all blogging & leaving comments, but I must say Sharon is the best so far at leaving comments! But Ang you are getting good too! See ya!
Thats because I'm at home all day:)
Wow a visit to Notre Dame! Did you take Luke and Sharon by to see Papa's stomping ground? He would be so proud!! That was quite a surprise - and I love your haircut! Seems like you had a ball. Call me soon, I love you and miss you.
XOXO

Meg
well I am home half the day, so I am almost as good as you at leaving comments Shar!
Wow you guys, Luke is getting so big! Sharon, you look absolutely amazing; have you starting running yet? Kevin, you look great too; that pregnancy weight seems to be coming right off!:)j/k
When are you guys going to grace Knoxville with your presence?
Elizabeth,
I'd be in Knoxville tomorrow if I could! We're thinking about going to Knoxville sometime in September for a football game, but nothing is set in stone. And Sharon does look fantastic! She isn't running yet, but I recently bought her an elliptical and she got the ok from her doctor to workout, so I imagine she'll start slow and only workout three hours per day instead of five!
I ran for the first time the other day for 10min..so Im starting really really slow. Things just dont feel the same...Kev did buy me an elliptical and i did 30min today....there is hardly time to work out with Luke..he takes all my time...so when he naps I have to hurry downstairs and hope to get something in...maybe things will get better. Good hearing from you Elizabeth!
