Luke Prescott Thompson has arrived!

Sharon is my hero! She demonstrated unbelievable resolve, courage, and effort as she endured 36 hours of contractions, 2.5 hours of pushing, and an emergency C-section. Luke has a big noggin! I was in the room during the operation, which was one of the most challenging experiences of my life. Seeing someone you love in pain is unbearable. Not surprisingly, Sharon went through the experience like a champ. After the surgery, the Anaesthesiologist said that he was amazed at Sharon's mental toughness. He said, "That girl doesn't know how to quit. " It was absolutely amazing.

After a rough start, Luke is a healthy baby boy. He weights 7 pounds 8 ounces. He's tall at 21 inches long. He has monster hands, like his daddy. He has a birthmark on his left cheek below his eye. It's funny how my sister and I exchanged genes for our kids. It looks like her son, William, might have asthma like me. And Luke has a birthmark similar to my sister's on her leg. As Luke grows, the mark will get smaller and probably disappear by age 9. He's got a fantastic temperament! My grandmother always says that you can tell the child's personality by the time they leave the hospital. Luke is very calm and observant, not fussy at all. He enjoys quietly looking around. Of course, this might all change once he gets home!

I look forward to all of you meeting this little man. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Kevin--

I'm Mo's dad. Congratulations. We've watched Sharon over the years, and yes, she's among the toughest there are. Mo's my first child, and my life changed the moment she arrived. I know Luke is doing that for you both; I know you'll enjoy the ride. Best wishes for a great time now that you're in family mode.
